Who we are
Our Story: A Hughesville Tradition Since 1957
The Angus Inn began in 1957, when Sam Kepner purchased the former Shady Nook Park dance hall and transformed it into a place where the community could gather and enjoy Black Angus beef raised on the Kepner family farm.
Nearly 70 years later, The Angus remains rooted in that same family tradition. Since 2006, Sam's granddaughter, Ivy Kepner, has carried the family business forward as its third-generation owner, preserving the character, hospitality, and sense of community that have made The Angus a Hughesville tradition since 1957.
We may no longer raise the Black Angus beef served here ourselves, but our heritage still matters. We proudly serve quality Angus beef in our fresh, hand-pattied burgers and steaks and believe good food should be served without a lot of fuss—just the way it has been here for generations.
And the walls have plenty of stories to tell. One of our favorite pieces of family lore is that legendary athlete Jim Thorpe once visited this very property—a story that has been passed down through the Kepner family for generations.
Through changing times, one thing has remained the same: The Angus is a place for good food, cold drinks, familiar faces, and community.

The Angus Inn is the kind of place where you can pull up a seat at our live-edge walnut bar, meet friends for a cold drink, or bring the whole family. Around here, everyone has a place at the table.
There's a lot more to The Angus than beef. From our chargrilled jumbo wings and chicken and waffles to sandwiches, appetizers, weekly specials and plenty of cold drinks, our menu is filled with the kind of food people come back for.
We're not fancy, and we don't try to be. The Angus is about good food, cold drinks, familiar faces, and making everyone—from longtime regulars to first-time visitors—feel welcome.

WHERE ARE WE LOCATED?
Some things just belong at The Angus. Crispy Cactus Taters, chargrilled jumbo wings, Black Angus burgers and steaks, fish and chips, and the weekly specials our regulars look forward to—like Taco Tuesday and Wednesday Wing Night.
Our menu is built around familiar favorites, generous portions, and good food at a fair price. Whether you're stopping in for dinner with the family, meeting friends for wings, or grabbing a burger and a cold beer at the bar, there's something for everyone at The Angus.

Just north of downtown Hughesville on Route 220, The Angus Inn is an easy stop whether you’re coming from around the corner or down the road.
We have a large on-site parking lot, with designated motorcycle parking and wheelchair-accessible parking and entrance conveniently located at the front of the building.
There’s usually plenty of room to pull in and park—but if you’re joining us for our popular Wednesday Wing Night, come early! Our parking lot has been known to fill up fast.
Book a private Event
Our Shady Nook Dining Room can accommodate up to 40 people for a private event. The room has a separate entrance and private bathroom in the space. We prefer you call the restaurant to make a reservation to ensure that all details are conveyed and the space is available on your requested date and time. Please make sure to know the size of your party, length of event, and if you would like to just reserve the room, order from the menu, or have us cater the event.
