Who we are
Sam Kepner introduced his own angus beef to the community in 1957 when he purchased the old Shady Nook Park dance hall and converted it to the Angus Inn. The current owner has fond family memories of the story of how Jim Thorpe himself visited here!
While the Angus Inn no longer uses the Black Angus beef raised on the family farm, we continue the tradition of serving the highest quality angus beef in our always-fresh-made burgers and steaks.

The Angus Inn is a place to get comfortable, enjoy delicious food, and linger over a drink or two. Take a seat at the beautiful live-edge walnut bar or bring the family to spread out in the Shady Nook Dining Room. Everyone has a place at the table at the Angus Inn. And while we are exceptionally proud of our top-quality Angus beef burgers and steaks – the most flavorful beef you will find –the menu features dishes to accommodate a range of tastes.

We want our customers to cozy up to the familiar flavors of Crispy Cactus Taters, Bang Bang Shrimp, Fish and Chips, juicy and flavorful meats and, of course, our featured Tacos on Tuesdays and Angus Wings on Wednesday. Our food will comfort your soul.

Located just north of downtown Hughesville on Rt.220, the Angus has ample onsite parking, is motorcycle friendly, and is wheelchair accessible.
Book a private Event
Our Shady Nook Dining Room can accommodate up to 40 people for a private event. The room has a separate entrance and private bathroom in the space. We prefer you call the restaurant to make a reservation to ensure that all details are conveyed and the space is available on your requested date and time. Please make sure to know the size of your party, length of event, and if you would like to just reserve the room, order from the menu, or have us cater the event.
